STORY CONTEST ABOUT THE ENVIRONMENT (First stage, 2012-2021) |
| I clearly remember the day I visited Miguel, in his office at the second floor of the Milan Building, Gijón City Council Square. I carried with me an idea, a project. And Miguel, as was usual for him, listened to me enthusiastically, saw through my eyes and believed in me as he did so many times after that day. And, beyond this, he bet on my idea, he supported it and together we shaped it. |
| Thus was born, at the end of the summer of 2011, a pioneering project in environmental education in Asturias. |
| Since then, year after year, the Gijón City Council Story Contest about the Environment invokes the literary talent and environmental sensitivity of hundreds of schoolchildren. Every year, among more than three hundred participants, a jury selects the best stories that will be published in a carefully illustrated book. |
| But remembering Kavafis, as every trip to Ithaca, what is enriching is the road. Miguel has already reached his own Ithaca and it is time to see through new eyes as well. The event that we created continues its journey and, as of 2022, his path enters a new sea. New winds blowing their sails, new travelers. These ten volumes are my logbook, witnesses of the origin of many things, of the first stage of the journey. The following will be shared trips. |
