‘Libros a la calle 2025’ (‘Books on the Street 2025’) Campaign

January 2026

Illustration created to promote reading on public transport and the Madrid Metro, applied to posters and flyers

The annual ‘Libros a la Calle’ (‘Books on the Street’) campaign reaches its 28th edition, with the same objective as in its first edition: to awaken curiosity and generate a reading interest among Madrid residents and visitors who use public transport, sharing the texts of award-winning authors from the past year and previous years, commemorating anniversaries and opening up to lesser-known genres, authors, and perspectives, to enjoy the bibliodiversity offered by our publishing ecosystem in Spain. 7,200 prints distributed for the enjoyment and reflection of subway and municipal and intercity bus users, showcasing texts by 21 authors and illustrators.

The poem “Inventory of Places Conducive to Love,” from Ángel González’s work “Treatise on Urbanism,” is a profoundly evocative text, meant to be savored slowly, inviting introspective reflection. The illustration recreates the hostile and oppressive atmosphere of repression evoked by the text, respecting its context and reading rhythm. This visual approach, in itself, reflects on the urban space in which it will coexist with readers and observers—train cars, journeys, furtive glances, and waiting times—transforming the common space and thus making it an active medium for the literary experience.
